Easy. Transistor Radio from Advice From the Happy Hippopotamus. The message is brilliant, the melodies are exquisite and the way Craig’s voice cracks is just beautiful. This song epitomizes why I love this band so much, they make me feel like I’m a kid again. The message: “Where I been & where I am is the show.”

Mine is “Living on the Outside of Your Skin”. No deep, meaningful reason other than it makes me smile every time I hear it. And they rock it live.

The Cloud Cult song that sticks with me has always been “Light at the End of the Tunnel.” Listening to the description of the tunnel, the death (near-death?) experience, is a bit creepy. Then, when the woman describing the experience says, almost pleads, “I want to go back!” a few times, and the instrumental part of the song takes over, it gives me chills - not in a scared-to-die way, but in a “I’d better live while I can” way.

The single ‘Take Your Medicine’ is a great song. It reminds me of Silversun Pickups meet Placebo. Anyone else?

I’ve always had a soft spot for tons of cloud cult songs, transistor radio was one i wanted to use for my animation thesis. But Moving to Canada was really the first song i heard that really struck me, with it’s constant change of volume and abrupt instrumental build ups, it really made me want the cd. Am I ever so lucky that my best friend dated this dude who just so happened to pick up the cd because he thought the album artwork was cool.

I really like ‘Take Your Medicine’, the drums and bass sound great together in this song!

“You Got Your Bones to Make a Beat” from the Happy Hippo. That guy rocks a flute like the second coming of Jethro Tull. And that’s a good thing.

“The Deaf Girl’s Song” really caught me with its concept of silent music. I know it’s not entirely a new concept, but their interpretation of the idea just really worked for me.

“Moving to Canada” because I tend to like songs with abrupt stops and starts

“Start New” from Advice from the Happy Hippo. the song packs so much energy into a span of less than two minutes.

i don’t have a favorite - i kind of like their stuff, but haven’t been intrigued to buy. so i’d love a CD to get to know them better and hopefully see a show here in chicago (or MN, as i visit there pretty often). i may have disqualified myself, just telling the truth….

I have never heard of them so you should give the CD to me to turn me in to a fan of their music.

I am really excited for the new album by the track “Take Your Medicine.” The drums and bass groove is stirring, but I am really compelled by the textures created by the strings, synths and xylophone/bells(?). Really neat stuff, can’t wait to hear the rest of the album.

Breakfast With My Shadow is my favorite… With lyrics like “And I had breakfast with my shadow,
We had quite the discussion. Can you fall in love with the things you only know the things you may never touch?” how can you not adore this song? I really want to hear more of their new album!

I like “Fairy Tale”, it reminds me of Modest Mouse.

My favorite song has to be Fairy Tale. When I first heard it I didn’t know much about the band, and just thought it was a neat song. After I learned more about the history of the band, the song pulled my heartstrings and still does whenever I hear it. The lyrics are poignant, the music rocks, and the vocals are intense.

“Take Your Medicine” is probably my favorite. I think I like it because it is pure awesomeness. Plain and simple. Ryan W. is right; the textures in this song are fantastic. I’m really excited to hear this album.

I loved the song “Pretty Voice”. I can see the references to Modest Mouse pretty easily, but I think that Cloud Cult is more melodic as can be heard on this song. Plus, it is just filled with melancholy and longing, which for some reason I find irresistable.

I’ve never heard them before, until my lady asked me to check them out. I checked out “Washed Your Car” and few others, but Washed Your Car was my favorite. As for the other songs I heard, none of which sounded the same and that is always a plus.

I thought that the song Cloud Cult played on the Lounge Act, “Son Is Watching” was great. I mean, here’s a song with a story and heavy emotions behind it, and perhaps even the inspiration for the band.
Thanks for the contest.
