New Music - Bjork - Volta
New Music focuses on something just added to the WOXY.com playlist. Today the spotlight is on the new album from Bjork, Volta, which is due out May 8th.
- Three of the album’s tracks feature beats by frequent Missy Elliott and Justin Timberlake producer Timbaland
- The regular version hits stores next week, although a special cd/dvd edition is released in North America on May 22nd and a limited edition gatefold double vinyl pressing of the album is coming this summer
- “Earth Intruders” was inspired by a UNICEF-sponsored trip Bjork took to see the areas in Southeast Asia devasated by the tsunami in 2004
Here are a few reviewers quotes about the new album.
- “Volta is arguably Bjork’s loosest and most ruminative record, and though it touches on everything she’s ever done, it’s not as gripping or coherent as her best stuff.” - Rolling Stone
- “Listen intently, repeatedly, and you’ll hear much to widen your consciousness… But listen for, you know, enjoyment and you’ll be left wanting.” - Observer Music Monthly
