New Music - The Afghan Whigs - Unbreakable
New Music focuses on something just added to the WOXY.com playlist. Today the spotlight is on the new album from The Afghan Whigs, Unbreakable, a retrospective album that features two new songs and is due out June 5th.
- This is the first-ever retrospective compilation from the Whigs, spanning 1990-2006.
- 18 songs includes two new songs recorded in 2006: “I’m A Soldier” and “Magazine.”, produced by Greg Dulli and John Curley.
- The CD will be out June 5th, after being initially slated for a May 1st release.
Here are a few reviewers quotes about the new album.
- “As for this 18-song collection, fans will quibble over song selections. What they’ll agree on is that the two new tracks, “I’m a Soldier” and “Magazine,” both slow(er) and groovy, could make great strides for a new Whigs’ era–which is apparently unlikely, given Dulli’s commitment to the Twilight Singers.” -Andrew Bartlett
- ” Pulling from every significant Whigs release other than Big Top Halloween (and not scrimping on Black Love, albeit at the expense of Up In It), this collection focuses on the songs, which, for the most part, shine like black obsidian jewels in the lamplight of a dangerous seduction.” - Paste Magazine
