It's a close call between Gentlemen and 1965, but I think Gentlemen would win out for me. I first heard the whigs on WOXY when they played the song "Debonair' and immediately purchased the record. Gentlemen is an album I consistently return to and never lets me down.

Gentlemen, because when I put it on in college it made chicks want to do it. By the time Marcy Mays laid out My Curse it was good to go.

1965, no contest. This album forever renders me nostalgic for the not so distant past- the kind of nostalgia that can be brandished as a weapon. Each song is directly linked to past nights out, and “Somethn’ Hot” will always lead off my essential "going-out to booze up and riot" compilation.

Black Love for me too. Faded and Crime Scene are two of my favorite Whigs songs, so killer bookends, but the whole CD is solid.

Black Love because there is not a bad song on it, the cover album photo creates a great mood, and Faded is one of the best songs Dulli has ever written!

I have to agree that Gentleman is the ultimate classic, but reading this thread has made me realize that tonight I have to give Congregation another listen.

Gentlemen.... no wait.. Uptown Avondale, er, no, Gentlemen.

It has to be Uptown Avodale. 'Rebirth of the Cool' reeled me back into the 97X fold after I landed back in Cinci.

When I moved to cincy in '95-96 to go to UC, Black Love was just coming out -- it was my intro to the Whigs courtesy (believe it or not) of WEBN. Saw them at bogart's right before I went back home for the summer and pretty much went crazy for the band right then and there. Went home for the summer and annoyed the crap out of DJs at the station there requesting me some Whigs.
