We tried to get Britt Daniel of Spoon to sit down with us during the second day of Bonnaroo 2007 with no success. The band was incredibly busy running around doing other press. However, we were lucky enough to grab Britt and Jim at random on the last day of the festival. It was so spontaneous that we had already taken down our banner and were packing up our area. When I saw the guys and they agreed to sit down, we rushed to get our area back in order and do the interview. Of course, Spoon’s new album, Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga is in stores this week, I highly recommend you pick it up.
It worked out great though, and Britt even lets loose a BAM during our talk. Check it out.
This Brooklyn 4-piece band gave one of the very earliest performances in our Lounge back in 2004 when they were promoting “Palomar III.”
Now, they have a new home with Misra Records and were out on the road touring their fourth full-length disc “All Things, Forests” when they stopped in for a return visit to our studios.

The Little Ones joined us for a fun interview on the second day of Bonnaroo. It was the first one in the morning and we had a great time chatting it up with one of our favorite bands. Have a look and listen below.
The Black Angels were another unplanned interview we did backstage at Bonnaroo 2007. I saw them walking around the press area and recognized them and asked if they would chat. It worked out great except for a crew of workers that came along and began to saw through a nearby wooden fence. It was much louder in person than on video luckily, but it is referenced in the interview.

Dr. Dog sat down with me for an interview during Bonnaroo 2007. As you can see, the sun was hitting us all during this one. I talked with the band about their current tour, their last album, and their desire to become the official band of the Philadelphia Phillies……Enjoy. They didn’t do a great job passing the mic, so you may need to turn up the sound a bit on this one.
Well, here we go, the first of a bunch of video interviews captured at Bonnaroo 2007. We had the pleasure of talking to Ben Harper and you can view our discussion below. Ben and I chat briefly about Bonnaroo, his new album, and even tattoos. These interviews are not run of the mill either, lots of these artists sat down with us without planning on our part or theirs, and we just talked. And also, for those with short attention spans, don’t worry, these interviews are almost all short but sweet……
When it comes to WOXY Lounge Acts, we have a pretty standard format that we follow. The band comes in, we take photos of the session and of course record it for live airplay and for podcast playback. But every now and then a band comes in and brings their own camera crew and does a little video.
Here are a few videos I dug up from You Tube of bands playing in the lounge…..
Eric Metronome - “Copy Cat”
A very short clip of Shesus in the lounge….
Great little recap video of The Features session…
Get ready for lots more video very soon as the Bonnaroo interviews are finally ready! Stay tuned….
Getting back to some new release recommendations, the last month or so have been a bit light in the interesting new release category, but this week promises to make up for it quite a bit. With heavyweights like Spoon and Interpol releasing new ones to debut albums from St. Vincent and solo debuts from Roddy Woomble (Idlewild) and Jason Isbell (Drive By Truckers). When it’s all said and done, loads of reasons to visit your local independent record store this week.
The second half of today’s double dip in the lounge features Tacks, The Boy Disaster. The band is from an already rich music environment in Austin, Texas and their debut album is getting some well deserved attention across the country already.
Band member Evan Jacobs who is also one of many members of The Polyphonic Spree and did some time with Midlake as well, did an interview last year that is worth checking out in anticipation of the Lounge session today. Also, be sure to dowload the song below.
Tacks should be starting their set with us around 4pm eastern time today, be sure to tune in…..
