Monolith Music Festival Preview - White Rabbits

whiterabbits.jpg
White Rabbits have generated some well deserved buzz surrounding their debut album, Fort Nightly. The band, based in NY but originally from Missouri, are a sextet featuring two drummers and a piano player. They have labeled themselves as “honky tonk calypso”, which really leaves about everything to be imagined.

We can’t wait to hear their live set at the Monolith Festival next weekend at the WOXY.com stage. Here is a preview song for you from White Rabbits, titled, “The Plot”.

Lounge Act Recap - The Rentals

The Rentals just put out their first new batch of music in about 8 years earlier this summer. “The Last Little Life” EP is a precursor to their new full-length album which they’ll be working on this fall and expect to release next year.

Founding members Matt Sharp and Rachel Haden met when Weezer and that dog were touring together in the 90’s and they wanted an excuse to work together.

While the group had a lot of floating members in the past, they’ve now settled on a more permanent lineup that is six multi-instrumentalists strong. They were one member down when they stopped into the Lounge, but still pulled off a great acoustic set of material from the new EP.

  • “The now-three-piece group proves they haven’t lost their ability to blend superb pop hooks with dance beats.” - Urb
  • “VHS’s tardy follow-up, Bring On The Comets, might as well have stayed in bed.” - The Onion
