WOXY.com’s 97 Best Coming December 20th

It’s hard to believe, but this will be the 24th consecutive year we’ll count down the year’s 97 Best albums. Yep, on December 20th @ 10am, we’ll start at #97 and won’t stop until we reach #1 (apologies to Casey Kasem). As in previous years, bestof.jpg the 97 Best is determined by airplay. We feel that’s the most accurate reflection of the sound of the station in 2007. Make sure you carve out the whole day to listen and see where your favorites land on this years list.

If you’re a history buff, here’s a look back at the previous #1 records (click the link to see that year’s entire list). You’ll notice the musical shifts from one decade to the other and sometimes, one year to the next.

Full disclosure, I feed on lists like bees to pollen. That said here is a question for the masses….

Given WOXY’s current programming approach (more songs simultaneously playlisted from albums), are two-fers like U2 and The White Stripe more or less likely to occur again.

I wonder if it’s harder to make it to number one nowadays. Does WOXY’s goal to give you what you can’t readily get somewhere else (top singles) make the ascent to #1 even harder to pull of here than other countdowns.
