Our good friends in Brooklyn band Pela suffered a setback last month while on the road when lead singer Billy McCarthy fell off the stage at Schuba’s in Chicago. He fell onto a broken pint glass and sliced the tendons in one of his hands. He is doing better now and has begun the process of physical therapy, but like many touring musicians, Billy is without proper health insurance.

All of the dates on the ‘There’s No Off Switch On This Thing’ tour have been rescheduled and the band will hit the road again on May 19th at the Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington D.C. In the meantime, Billy has gotten assistance from MusiCares to help with some of his medical bills, but they’re already adding up to thousands of dollars.
