new woxy in cincinnati shirts

Submitted by: mike
THANKS TO EVERYONE who came out to Fountain Square and bought up the entire stock of our new WOXY t-shirts. The sale was so enormously successful that our pals at Wire & Twine completely ran out of their on-hand supply well before the T-Shirt Fest ended. Now, we'd said that online orders for this limited edition shirt may be available should demand warrant, and I think that we've heard you loud and clear. They're on sale now!

And if you missed out on the Vote WOXY or WOXY Gone To Heaven Tees, Wire & Twine has some extras that they're selling. But hurry, they only have a few left in limited sizes. Get yours now!

the future of rock and roll turns 25

Submitted by: shivvy
We're coming up on a pretty extraordinary milestone here at The Future Of Rock And Roll. On Labor Day weekend back in 1983, Doug & Linda Balogh flipped the switch on an FM radio station up in Oxford, Ohio. They sent over the following message to share with WOXY fans past and present and we'd like to share it with you.

25 years ago this weekend, U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday" birthed the beginning of a dream ... 97X. A couple of decades later many of you listened to Steve Baker's eloquent final paragraph at midnight on May 13, 2004, when we closed the chapter on the "radio station."

We lived the American Dream for 23 years, working alongside so many talented, dedicated people who shared the passion ... too many to mention, but you know who you are! Little David did show Goliath that BIG isn't always better.

We want to say THANK YOU to the 97X People ~ staff and listeners ~ who forged that common bond of loyalty to the music. Dare To Dream, Dare To Do. A heartfelt standing ovation to you all.

BAM! ~ Doug and Linda Balogh, from retirement

P.S. We're soooooo glad and proud that The Music continues ~ with the same ethos ~ via woxy.com.

We're pleased to be sponsors of the 2008 MidPoint Music Festival happening September 25-27th here in Cincinnati. Nearly 100 bands will be performing at venues across Downtown, Over The Rhine, and Northern Kentucky including Robert Pollard's Boston Spaceships, Mates Of State, The Sadies, Oh My God, and Pomegranates.

Look for WOXY.com to invade the Fifth Third Bank Theater over at the Aronoff Center with three nights of great music. We worked with the festival to help curate the lineup for this stage which will feature:

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th: ($10 admission, 8pm doors)
11pm WHY?
10pm DANIEL MARTIN MOORE
9pm THE CHOCOLATE HORSE

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 26th: ($10 admission, 7pm doors)
11pm JUKEBOX THE GHOST
10pm SAY HI
9pm THE PURRS
8pm ROSEHIPS

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 27th: ($10 admission, 8pm doors)
11pm HEADLIGHTS
10pm WUSSY
9pm THE MOCKS

Capacity for these shows WILL be limited, so your best bet for getting in is to get there early. Space will be reserved for 3-Day Wristband holders, with the rest of the capacity going to walk-up ticket sales each night. The WOXY.com stage will be ALL AGES all three nights!

[this just in] on the futurist

Submitted by: mike

We've added a new regular feature to The Futurist, [This Just In], where a WOXY.com DJ gives their thoughts on a record that has recently been added to our current rotation. Expect to be introduced to new artists alongside our takes on the latest efforts from those you may already be familiar with. We'll even throw in an MP3 or a video for you to check out if we can get our hands on one. Joe's already posted introductions to two new artists he's just discovered, HORSE FEATHERS and KRISTOFFER RAGNSTAM, while Shiv raves about GENTLEMAN AUCTION HOUSE. Check it out!
